Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon

07 November 2024

I recently skimmed through Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon by Michael Lewis. The book covers the rapid rise and dramatic collapse of FTX, the now-infamous crypto exchange founded by Sam Bankman-Fried, who faced criminal charges after FTX’s downfall in late 2022. In November 2023, a jury found him guilty of fraud. FTX, valued at $32 billion in early 2022, collapsed in November of the same year.

What can I say? It’s a sad story that highlights why regulations exist in the first place. I was honestly shocked by how recklessly some people can live, even when handling customers’ money.

As for the book, I don’t think it’s worth reading unless you want an in-depth dive into the details. A well-written article on the topic would give you all the key insights without the lengthy read.
